Liverpool have agreed a £13.75million deal with Stoke City for Xherdan Shaqiri.
The Swiss international also had interest from Lazio but was eager to link up with Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
Liverpool made enquiries last month as a deal for Lyon’s Nabil Fekir faltered.
Liverpool are confident of wrapping up a deal for Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to complete the deal for Shaqiri before their US tour
Shaqiri is due to undergo a medical on Friday and will provide competition for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah while Alex Oxlade Chamberlain continues his recovery from ligament damage.
Stoke signed Shaqiri from Bayern Munich in 2015 and he has two years remaining on his deal but the Championship side – who are restructuring under new manager Gary Rowett – are resigned to him moving this summer and they want the business wrapped up quickly.
Liverpool, who beat local rivals Tranmere 3-2 on Tuesday night, head to the United States on July 21 for a week-long tour that will see them play games against Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Manchester United before returning to Europe for a training camp.
In an ideal world, Klopp would have Shaqiri as part of his squad to go to the United States and the player is keen for the move to happen.

The two clubs have a good relationship and Stoke are one of several Championship clubs who want to take Liverpool’s young star Harry Wilson on a season long-loan – Derby and Aston Villa are also interested – though it should be stressed the deals are not linked to each other.
Wilson signed a five-year deal on Tuesday and he has a big future at Anfield but Liverpool want him to go on loan to further his experience.
Both Rangers and Celtic wanted to take the Wales international to Glasgow but Liverpool are eager for him to remain in England.
