Tottenham in race against time to get new stadium ready for first test event next month

The latest pictures of Tottenham’s new stadium shows there’s plenty of work left to do with just over a month left before the first scheduled test event at White Hart Lane.

The Premier League club are expected to hold an open training session with a reduced capacity of around 30,000 in August.

Spurs will then need to host a second test event with close to full capacity of 62,000 to get a safety certificate from the Football Association.

The state-of-the-art stadium is due to hold its first Premier League fixture on September 15 when Liverpool are the visitors.

The match has been selected for live television coverage by Sky Sports and kick-off moved forward to 12.30pm.

The only confirmed fixture so far is the NFL encounter between Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders on October 14.

Tottenham plan to play their opening league fixture of the season — against Fulham on August 18 — at Wembley, their temporary home during the redevelopment of White Hart Lane last season.

Things haven’t run too smoothly for Tottenham recently though after they were forced to rip out 15,000 seats at their new £1billion ground because they were mistakenly installed without a protective pigment.

Workers were meant to add a pigment to the navy blue dye that coloured the seats but accidentally left it out making them vulnerable to bad weather
